He looks like a little one tree little branched, could branch in case of wounds, with a stem up to 5– 10 m . The trunk, even in mature specimens, has a soft, slightly woody consistency and presents scars produced by the growth and fall of the upper leaves. There lymph it has a milky consistency and is toxic in its natural state for humans, being able to produce allergic irritations upon contact with the skin .

The leaves , arranged in a rosette at the apex of the trunk, are large, palmate-lobed, 50–70 cm in diameter [3] .

THE flowers they are produced in the armpit of the leaves.

The fruit

Papaya

Papaya has a delicate texture and an oblong shape and can be green, yellow, orange or pink in color. It can weigh up to 9 kg. For marketing purposes, in most cases they must not weigh more than 500 or 600 g, especially in the varieties of dwarf plants, which are very productive and generally intended for export, to be more transportable and last longer after harvesting until the time of their consumption. The size of the fruits decreases depending on the age of the plant. The fruits and flowers are found in clusters immediately below the insertion of the petioles of the palmate leaves. The plant is not demanding regarding soils, being able to grow in any ground abandoned or even in large pots. It is one of the most productive plants in relation to its size because it flowers continuously and always has flowers and fruit at the same time. Fruit development causes the lower leaves to drop, so the fruits are always exposed to the leaves, exposed to sunlight.
The species occurs naturally dioecious , however artificial selection has produced hermaphroditic species. Papaya is known as a fruit for consumption, both as a whole fruit and as a smoothie and dessert (made with green fruit boiled with sugar ), and has some notable properties to facilitate the digestion of difficult to assimilate foods.

In Philippines the papaya fruit is the subject of industrial cultivation of great importance for the country's economy. [4] Of particular value are the crops on the island of Guimaras , known for the great variety and quality of fruit plants. [5]

In Italy it can be grown on the coasts Sicilian and on the southern and western-southern ones Calabrians (from Reggio Calabria to Capo Spartivento ): however, due to the low winter temperatures, it only bears fruit from April to November, unlike the tropical regions where it bears fruit all year round.
